Sometimes it occurs to happens that you want to prevent other users from changing password in windows 8.It may be because you may be sharing the same user account to log into windows with another person and do not wish him changing the password directlyor or you you do not intend other users from changing their passwords in windows 7/8/8.1.Here i would be helping you out to prevent changing passwords by using Computer Management,Group Policy and Registry Editor.

Method 1 : Using Computer Management
Step 1 : Open Computer Management.It will be located in “C:\Windows\System32\compmgmt.msc”.
You can copy it from here or simply search it in the start menu.
Step2 : In the left pane, click on System Tools>Local Users and Groups>Users.
Step3: See the middle pane.Here you will see the list of all user accounts on your computer.
Step 4: Right click on the user name ,on which the restriction are going to be applied and select properties
Step5: When you will click on properties a window will open,similar to the following.
Step6:In this window check the User cannot change password box and then hit Apply.
Now you are done and if any user tries to change his/her password, he or she will receive a message displaying “Windows cannot change the password”
Method 2 : using Group Policy Editor
For this Method you need to open the Run box from the Windows Menu or you can simply hit windows key+R and the RUN box will appear.In the RUN box type “gpedit.msc” (without Quotation mark) and hit ENTER.This will open the Group Policy Editor.
Step 1: Now go to the following setting:-
User Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Ctrl+Alt+Del Options
Step 2: Now double-click on Remove change password and a Window will open make sure to check Enabled.
Step 3: Click Apply and exit
NOTE:- This policy setting prevents users from changing their Windows password on demand. If this policy setting is enabled the ‘Change Password’ button on the Windows Security dialogue box will not appear when Ctrl+Alt+Del is pressed. However, users are still able to change their password when prompted by the system.
The system prompts users for a new password when an administrator requires a new password or their password is expiring.
Some version of Windows do not have Group Policy.Therefore you can use the Registry Editor Method.
Method 3 : Using Registry Editor
In this method you need to do some changes in the Registry Editor.
Step 1: Open Registry Editor by typing regedit in the Windows search option
Step 2:Go to the following address
Step 3:Right click in the right pane and scroll to NEW and then select DWORD (32-bit) to create the key.
- Name the new key (DWORD) as Disable Change Password and Double-click on it to edit its value . Now give its value data 1.
- Restart your computer.
